Presentation of the StopVAW website and Armenian National Home Page (20.10.2005)

The presentation of the StopVAW (Stop Violence against Women) website and Armenian National Home Page on the mentioned website took place on October 21, 2005 in “Queen Erato” hall of the Armenia Marriott Hotel.

 
International Peace Day and Launching of the Peace Coalition Advocacy Campaign (14.10.2005)

In 1981 the United Nations General Assembly passed resolution 36/67 declaring an International Day of Peace. In 2001, the United Nations General Assembly adopted a new resolution 55/282 declaring 21 September of each year as the International Day of Peace. The intention of the resolution is to have the entire world observe a day of peace and nonviolence, “…a day of global ceasefire and non-violence”.

 
Anti-trafficking Regional Program (29.09.2005)

A presentation of the “Anti-trafficking Regional Program” book took place in the Union of Journalists of Armenia on 30 September, 2005. The program was realized by People’s Harmonious Development Society (Georgia) and Hope and Help (Armenia) NGOs with the financial support of the Women’s Network Program of the Open Society Institute, Women’s Program of the “Open Society Georgia” Foundation, Georgian mission of the OSCE, OSIAF – Armenia and UNDP Armenia.

 
Presentations of the StopVAW website (14.09.2005)

On 9 and 15 September, 27 October 2005 Eduard Grigoryan and Armine Hakobyan, members of the Women’s Rights Center organized presentations of the Stop Violence against Women website and presented the services provided by the WRC, particularly the National Hot Line and the Crisis Center. The presentations took place in the cities of Gyumri, Eghegnadzor, Goris and Gavar with organizational support of the representatives of the WRC in the marzes of Shirak (Lousine Hayrapetyan), Vayots Dzor (Heriqnaz Avagyan), Syunik (Susanna Shahnazaryan) and Gegharkunik (Satenik Alaverdyan) correspondingly.

 
Meeting in Vanadzor (09.08.2005)

On August 10, 2005 members of the WRC M.Ghazaryan and R.Haroutyunyan had a meeting with representatives of NGOs of Vanadzor, dealing with women’s issues, as well as with local Mass Media representatives. The meeting was organized due to efforts of the Head of the branch of the WRC in the marz of Lori Ms. Siran Kochinyan.

A meeting with the representatives of the WRC in the marzes of Aparan, Guimri, Yeghegnadzor and Hrazdan took place in the office of the WRC.
 
Participation in the “Opinion” radio program (13.07.2005)

Siran Kochinyan, head of Women’s Rights Center branch in the marz of Lori, was invited to participate in the “Opinion” radio program of “Radiointerkap” radio station on July 14, 2005.
The issues of domestic violence and trafficking in women were discussed during the meeting. S. Kochinyan presented the mission of the Women’s Rights Center, including the National Hotline, Crisis Center, and Emergency Shelter. She also mentioned types and reasons of violence against women, as well as its consequences.

 
"Art-therapy as a means of regulating psycho-emotional state of pregnant women” exhibition-seminar (13.07.2005)

On 14 July, 2005 Ts.Chragyan, the psychologist of the Women’s Rights Center participated in the “Art-therapy as a means of regulating psycho-emotional state of pregnant women” exhibition-seminar, organized by World Vision Armenia.

 
Presentation of the new design of the Armenian Anti-trafficking web site (05.07.2005)

The presentation of the new design of the Armenian anti-trafficking website (www.antitrafficking.am) took place on July 6, 2005 in the UN House in Yerevan. The website was created by the Audio-Visual Reporters Association by the financial support of the UNDP Armenia in the framework of the anti-trafficking program.

 
Meeting in Yeghegnadzor (03.07.2005)

A meeting with participation of the President of the Vayots Dzor Women’s local association, three pedagogues, two doctors and two housewives was organized by the initiative of H.Avagyan, the Women’s Rights Center Yeghegnadzor representative on 4 July, 2005.

 
Press-conference in the framework of the “1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005” project (26.06.2005)

The project “1000 Women for the Nobel Peace Prize 2005” was launched in March 2003 with the aim of bringing the world’s attention to 1000 women and their tireless, often dangerous daily commitment to peace and human security. The nomination for the Nobel Peace Prize is intended honor the work that they and countless thousands of other women are doing.

 
Round table in Yeghegnadzor (16.06.2005)

On 17 June, 2005 Human Rights Protection Committee, Democracy Institute and Women’s local association of Vayots Dzor organized a round table in Yeghegnadzor. Representatives of NGOs, local state structures, as well as Women’s Rights Center Yeghegnadzor representative, representative of the Democracy Institute from the UK and the Mass Media participated in the event.
