Press Conference at Media Center devoted to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (26.11.2015)
On November 25 at 11:00 the Media Center hold a discussion devoted to the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women: Situation in Armenia. The speakers were S. Vardanyan, head of the Women’s Rights Center, L. Minasyan, Project Manager at Society without Violence NGO and A. Jilozyan from Women Support Center. S. Vardanyan presented WRC statistics on domestic violence and noted that sexual violence cases remained underreported because women usually didn’t want to apply with such cases even to the Hotline.
 
Event at the Yerevan State University (26.11.2015)
On November 25, 2015 workshop on “Gender Equality” theme took place at the Faculty of Law of Yerevan State University. The workshop was organized by the European Law Students Association (ELSA), and students from the Faculty of Law, representatives of non-govermental organizations participated in the meeting. Women’s Rights Center also took part in the workshop raising the number of issues on domestic violence against women and their children in Armenia.
 
March of the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women (26.11.2015)
On November 25, 2015 the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women launched the 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence annual campaign in Armenia. The Coalition, which unites 7 non-governmental organizations including Women’s Rights Center, organized a March which started at the crossroads of Kasyan-Komitas streets, walked by Baghramyan Avenue, Freedom Square, North Avenue and ended at the Republican Square, in front of the Government building.
 
Interview for «Aravot» Daily (25.11.2015)
On November 24, 2015 Women's Rights Center's psychologist Lilit Hayrapetyan had a phone interview with «Aravot» Daily on the threshold of 16 Days of Activism against Gender Based Violence Annual Campaign launch on November 25. The interview was devoted to the problem of violence against women and its negative impact not only on women but on children as well. According to L. Hayrapetyan, despite of the fact that children are witnesses or victims of domestic violence, they will carry at least psychological consequences of violence.

On November 24, 2015 press conference with participation of Women’s Rights Center’s psychologist L. Hayrapetyan and Women’s Resource Center’s social worker A. Hovhannisyan. 
 
Regular Raising Awareness Meeting at Yerevan Basic School N 200 (23.11.2015)
Within the awareness raising activities devoted to combating the domestic violence in Armenia, Women's Rights Center organized meeting with the teachers of Basic School N 200. All the teachers including teachers of inclusive education and the director of the school welcomed the initiative of the organization. They expressed their willingness to continue the cooperation emphasizing the importance of such events in preventing the domestic violence. The main causes of domestic violence, the services provided by the organization to its beneficiaries, as well as future plans and projects were presented to the teachers. 

 

 
Raising Awareness Meeting at Yerevan Basic School № 120 (19.11.2015)
On November 18 raising awareness meeting and demonstration of WRC social films was organized at Yerevan basic school № 120. Women's Rights Center's activities and services were presented to the audience, which was followed by the demonstration of social films on domestic violence. Parents of the pupils and school teachers participated in the meeting. They expressed interest in the activities of the organization and mentioned that the problem was up-to-date. Participants also expressed willingness to support the organization in awareness raising activities.
 
Interview for the «NGO Time» Series of Radio Programs (17.11.2015)
On November 13, 2015 Women's Rights Center hosted the anchorwomen from the “NGO Time” series of radio programs broadcasted by Business Radio. These programs are devoted to covering activities of non-governmental organizations working in Armenia, including women organizations. 
 
The Third World Conference of Women's Shelters (12.11.2015)
On November 3-6, 2015 the 3rd World Conference of Women's Shelters (3WCWS) took place in The Hague, The Netherlands. The Conference was organized by the Dutch Foundation of Women's Shelters and its partners by request of the Global Network of Women’s Shelters (GNWS) at the Conference Center of World Forum. Around 1000 participants from 115 countries attended the event and formulated the Call to Action «to take urgent and effective action to prevent and end violence against women and children» addressed to the governments of the world, UN agencies, international organizations, civil society, private sector and other stakeholders.
 
The 17th WAVE Conference (10.11.2015)
On November 2, 2015 the 17th Conference of Women against Violence Europe (WAVE) Network took place in The Hague, The Netherlands. Almost 100 participants from 60 WAVE member organizations in 41 European countries, including Women's Rights Center Director S. Vardanyan, as well as several participants from countries outside of Europe, including Rwanda, Israel, the United States and Australia took part in the Conference.The event was opened by WAVE President Rosa Logar, who focused her speech on the collective strength of women's organizations to end violence against women and girls, and emphasized the issue of VAW in war and armed conflicts.
 
Symposium devoted to the implementation of 2014-2019 Strategy of Maintaining and Improving Mental Health in Armenia (02.11.2015)
On October 30, 2015 the symposium devoted to the implementation of 2014-2019 Strategy of Maintaining and Improving Mental Health in Armenia took place at the Ball Room of the Best Western Congress Hotel. The symposium was initiated by the Open Society Foundations and Helsinki Citizens' Assembly Vanadzor Office and representatives of different civil society organizations, including Women's Rights Center participated in it.
 
Round table discussion “The State Policy on Combating the Reasons of Gender-Biased Abortions” (02.11.2015)
On October 30, 2015 the next round table discussion devoted to the “The state policy on combating the reasons of gender-biased abortions” took place at Ani Plaza Hotel. The meeting was organized by the International Center for Human Development NGO. Representatives from different Ministries, RA Police, international and financial organizations, as well as Women’s Rights Center and other NGOs participated in the discussion.
