On May 21, 2009 Women's Rights Center participated in round table discussion on "Women in Politics" which was held within the framework of the Second Meeting of the National Assembly- Civil Society Organizations Cooperation Platform
On October 19 WRC representatives participated in the
discussion organized within the framework of the “Equal” Campaign, implemented
by the OCSE Foundation, with the collaboration of ProMedia-Gender NGO and the
Swedish Government’s financial support. A month after the Yerevan City Council
elections and on the threshold of extraordinary elections to the National
Assembly on October 19, women’s political participation issues were discussed
in Armenia’s electoral processes.
The 1st of October is the ''National Day to combat Domestic Violence''. On this very day, 8 years ago in the result of cruel beating 20 years old Zaruhi Petrosyan died. Since then the Coalition to Stop Violence against Women has been organizing a public event on this day every year to prevent domestic violence in Armenia. Women’s Rights Centre as the member of the Coalition and one of the first women rights defenders in Armenia actively participates in this events.
On 29th of August Arsen Manukyan, the first
deputy to the Minister of Labor and Social Affairs and Zaruhi Batoyan, the
deputy, had an official meeting with the representatives of the
Coalition to Stop Violence against Women. The goal was to discuss the
challenging issues of combating domestic violence in Armenia.
An event was organized for the children who are receiving support by Women's Rights Center NGO. The children visited Yerevan State Chamber Music Theater to watch Presentation-Musical ''Lord and Servant'' which was staged on the basis of Hovhannes Tumanyan’s fairy-tale
