The series of the TV program “Talks about women’s rights” is devoted to the coverage of the issue of domestic violence in Armenia, the RA Law on the “Prevention of Domestic Violence, Protection of the Victims of Domestic Violence and Restoration of Solidarity in the Family”, as well measures to combat violence against women and the international documents ratified by the RA Government.
The guest of the program was Lilit Hobosyan, the Secretary of the Committee of Guardianship and Trusteeship of Davtashen Administrative District, Head of the General Department of Staff.
The family is a place, where the child’s character, behavior, thinking are developed, it is the first link of child’s socialisation. Healthy relationships in the family play a big role in the child’s future life. Even if domestic violence is not used against child, it is also essential, as the child learns what he or she sees violence gives birth to violence. It can be said that if at that moment it does not affect the minor, nevertheless it has its reflection on the child’s behavior in the future, in her social, educational field, in every sphere
The RA Law on the “Prevention of Domestic Violence, Protection of the Victims of Domestic Violence and Restoration of Solidarity in the Family” authorized the guardianship and trusteeship bodies to request a protection order from the Court, as well as to notify the law enforcement bodies about violence or real threat of violence within the family against a minor or a person ruled by the court as incapable or with limited capability.
One of the most important functions of these bodies is to arrange care for children and incapable persons who are left without care as a result of violence within the family.
It should be noted that guardianship is defined for up to 14 years old children who have been left without parental care, and trusteeship is defined for children over 14 years old up to 18 years old.
The aim of these bodies related to the issue of child guardianship is to ensure that parents are guided not by their own interests but try to find the best option for the benefit of a child by cooperating and working with the family.
The work, the trainings with the relevant bodies, parents, guardians promote the effective cooperation. The trainings were organized for social workers, foster families, and parenting skills were developed which are very important for both the institution and any person related to the child.
